Patrick Hamilton-Russell
Director and Co Fund Manager

Patrick co-founded Alpha Asset Management in 1997 after leaving the Board of Executors, where he worked as an investment analyst in the Private Bank. As a director of Alpha, Patrick has been responsible for the strategic direction of Alpha Asset Management through its evolution from a "family office" to a specialist hedge fund of funds boutique. Patrick co-founded Alpha Capital in 2006, after completing a number of successful proprietary investments. Patrick is responsible for managing the listed and Cape-based investments of Alpha Capital Trust.

C Thomas Crowe, B. Com
Director and Co Fund Manager

Thomas has 4 years' London-based investment banking experience, having worked for Prudential Bache securities and Donaldson Lufkin Jeanrette. From 2000 to 2005 as an investor and director he managed LonCape Finance a private equity investment vehicle. Thomas co-founded Alpha Capital in 2006 and manages the investments of Alpha Capital Trust with a primary focus on Gauteng, Kwa-Zulu Natal, Mpumalanga and Southern Africa.

Corrie Potgieter, CA(SA) Hons B. Compt B. Optom
Director

Corrie graduated from UCT and articled with Grant Thornton. He worked as a Management Consultant prior to joining Alpha Asset Management in 2006 as Group Financial Manager. In June 2008 he moved into his current position as Financial Director for Alpha Capital, where his responsibilities include statutory and financial governance and the compilation of the quarterly valuations for Alpha Capital Trust.

Carl Combrinck, BA LLB PG Dip Tax B Com (Hons) (Fin Man)
Director

Carl left his position as Head of Leveraged Finance at BoE Private Clients in April 2008 in order to set up Chrysalis Capital with Alpha Capital. He has 8 years' experience in Banking, which includes 2 years in Leveraged Finance and 3 years acting as a Structured Finance resource, which included deal-making as well as creation of financing solutions in new markets. He has in-depth knowledge and experience of banking credit policies and processes an intricate understanding of the legal risks inherent in investing in private sector credit. Carl is also a Director of Alpha Capital.

James Gilfillan, AB (Cum Laude) (Harvard) CFA
Director
James joined First Boston Corporation in the USA in 1990 after graduating from Harvard University. He was adjudged one of the top analysts at First Boston during his tenure there. He moved to the Yarmouth Group in the USA for 2 years before joining Allan Gray in South Africa as an Equity Analyst and Portfolio Manager. James co-founded Alpha Asset Management in 1997 and is currently the Chief Investments Officer for Alpha Asset. He is also a director of Alpha Capital.

Colette Lock, CAIB(SA)
Corporate Governance Officer
Colette joined Alpha Asset Management in 2001, from Standard Trust where she gained experience in various aspects of trust and asset management services. She is an associate member of the Institute of Bankers in Southern Africa, and holds a Certificate in Financial Compliance from Rand Afrikaans University (RAU). She moved to Alpha Capital in 2007, and is the Corporate Governance Officer.

Isabelle Nel, BA
Personal Assistant
Isabelle obtained her BA degree with majors in Theology and Psychology from the University of Stellenbosch, and started her career in the marketing department of a wine estate. She joined Thomas Crowe as his Personal Assistant in February 2004 and followed him in his move to Alpha Capital in 2006. She currently is Personal Assistant to Thomas Crowe and Patrick Hamilton-Russell.

Ashma Hartley
Diploma in Financial Management & Accounting
Ashma has 15 years experience in the Accounting /Finance Field. She started her career working for a Manufacturing company in 1992, studying part time in order to get her Diploma in Accounting and Financial Management. In 1998 she moved to the Retail industry until joining Alpha Capital in mid-2008. She is responsible for the full bookkeeping function of the various entities in the Alpha Group.
